What usually fails
- Water inlet valve and float. Low or inconsistent water flow starves the evaporator and produces thin ice.
- Scale on the evaporator plate. Hard water deposits insulate the plate and slow freezing.
- Harvest assist and hot-gas valve. If the ice sheet will not release, harvest components are a prime suspect.
- Bin thermostat or sensor. A confused sensor stops production with a half-empty bin.
- Condenser and fan. Air-cooled machines need clean condensers; water-cooled models need a healthy water regulating valve.
- Pump and distribution tube. Water that does not wet the plate evenly makes uneven cubes.
