- Check that the thermostat is set to Cool and a few degrees below room temperature.
- Swap in a fresh air filter if it's visibly dirty — a clogged filter is a common cause of weak airflow and icing.
- Confirm the outdoor breaker hasn't tripped and the outdoor unit isn't buried in leaves or debris.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?
This usually points to a failed capacitor, a dirty condenser coil restricting heat rejection, a low refrigerant charge from a slow leak, or a blower motor that isn't moving air. A technician tests each in turn to isolate the cause.
Is a frozen AC coil serious?
Yes — running the system with a frozen coil can damage the compressor. Turn the system to Off (not just stop cooling) and let it thaw fully before your appointment.
